Phil Jumps for Sticky Blood · 2 August 2017

Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune condition in which there is an increased tendency for the blood to clot. The condition can cause strokes, heart attacks, pulmonary emboli and DVTs. In pregnancy, APS is a leading cause of recurrent miscarriage and stillbirth.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My wife, Laura, is 40 in December and has a condition known as APS.

The condition causes her blood to clot in her body resulting in PEs (Pulmonary Embolisms), of which she has had 3, DVTs (Deep Vein Thrombosis), of which she's had 2 and other complications, such as TIAs (Transient Ischemic Attack-Mini Stroke), of which she's had 2. APS can also cause the onset of several other conditions, one of which is Vascula Dementia (FTD, please follow this link https://www.theaftd.org/understandingftd/ftd-overview). My wife Laura is beautiful and extremely intelligent, with plans to be a Lawyer. Laura was diagnosed with FTD in October last year after suffering for several years with intermittent language problems, confusion, and a severely reduced short-term memory. Doctor's are not able to predict how this condition will affect Laura in the years to come, but there is currently no cure, and so any research that is being done is extremely important, not just to Laura and me, but to everyone affected by the condition.

The APS Foundation help to support people with the condition and to drive research into new medications.
