Peer pressure, there's nothing quite like it....
After supporting Matt Proom & Rich Jones complete their mammoth Bristol to Little Harbour ride in England I suggested they do Lap the Lough, not thinking for a minute they'd rope me into it!!!
So here we are.. not athlete's, but willing to put our body, soul and minds on the line hoping there is enough creamy black stuff in Tomneys Bar at the end of it... we risk being the last across the line and the pumps run dry!!!
Mountain Rescue have a place in my heart. While out on a work outing for some team bonding the worst happened and our friend Paul Collin sadly took his last step in the great outdoors, something he loved to do and was surrounded by good company. The Mountain Rescue team were so supportive, caring and capable, they helped us all through the tough time we had with Paul out on the hills.
So this is my way of saying Thanks.
The North West Mountain Rescue Team has one of the largest operational areas of any mountain rescue team in UK or Ireland. Excluding the Mourne Mountains, their operational area is the geographical boundaries of Northern Ireland, extending to approximately 12,600 sq kms or 4,800 sq miles. They have three sections spread across the operational area, based in Enniskillen, Magherafelt and Broughshane, allowing them to deploy resources quickly to any location.
