I was first invited to Zambia in 2014 by the co-founder of the SOA orphanage, Kevin Gilbert and it really was an eye-opening experience. I mean that in the most positive way because the work that Kevin had done along with many other contributors was outstanding and I felt that I could contribute in some way.After participating in numerous fundraising events, including SOA rocks, to actually witness and see for myself just where and how the funds raised were used, how the SOA charity changes the lives of the young orphans in Serenje was truly amazing. Throughout the school year, many events help to keep the orphanage running in terms of infrastructure, staff and welfare of the children however, with the bi-annual trips we have the opportunity to first of all maintain contact with the children but secondly to help maintain the buildings and equipment. I can assure you that every penny raised goes directly to the running of the orphanage and believe me, it can go a long way.
