I'm taking part in the Brighton Half Marathon on Sunday 26
February 2023 in fancy dress for a children's education charity in India - the Venkat Trust.

At last year’s half marathon, our group of runners was successful in
raising money to help build new classrooms for the school which the
Trust supports, as the high school had won the accolade to add an Upper Sixth. There had been an influx of 600 more students who all wanted to come to the high school because it's the best! 

Giving these poverty-stricken children the best education means that the Trust is firmly forward thinking and will continue to help to eradicate poverty in Kovalam & the surrounding villages in the state of Tamil Nadu.

Through the Trust, I sponsor an inspirational 12-year-old girl, to support her through her education. In January, I and some of the other sponsors travelled to Kovalam as the Trust reached its 18th birthday. We visited the primary and high schools, met the very passionate teachers, and joined the Sunday gathering of the sponsored children, as well as visiting my sponsored child and her family in their home. This was an experience I shall never forget. The children and families were the warmest, most welcoming and sharing group of people I've ever met. I already look forward to returning to see their progress. It’s an ongoing challenge to help eradicate poverty but through supporting the Venkat Trust the lives of many children and their families are changing forever.
