I will be running the marathon to raise money for a charity which saves lives everyday. 

Though the true figures have never been released, it is believed that every five days there is at least one suicide amongst military personnel, serving and veterans. The figure is truly disgusting. Combat stress run 24/7 helplines for veterans, they run treatment centres focusing on a variety of therapies and help veterans find their way again. 

I left the Army in 2015 and unfortunately it took 4 years and a mental breakdown before I reached out for help . I am currently going through the treatment process for various mental health injuries sustained as a direct result of my time spent serving. This wouldn’t be possible without the help of combat stress. 

I am running this marathon to raise awareness about veterans mental health and to hopefully give a little back to a charity that has been there when I needed them most. If i can spread the word enough that if just one serving or ex soldier reaches out then that will be enough. 

The Army are great at turning civilians into soldiers but quite frankly they fail at turning soldiers into civilians. Trying to adjust to civvie street after deploying operationally and being in the army in general is extremely difficult with no help. 

Both myself and Amy will be running the London landmarks half marathon in March 2020 and I will be running the full London marathon in April. This is a journey that not only I have been on but my wife too.
