Story
The wrong way round for Shooting Star Chase.
The wrong way what?
I will be taking part in a series of cycle challenges this summer with decreasing distance, yep that’s right decreasing. Instead of the sensible build up to the tough event I will be starting with a 600-mile tour, then a 100 mile in a day followed by a gentle warm down 50 miles.
But why oh why do it?
Quite simply to help raise much needed funds for the fantastic local charity, Shooting Star Chase. This charity is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families.
They need to raise over £9 million each year to provide these children with a place to enjoy life for however long that may be.
What are the challenges?
Challenge 1
On July 17th I will be setting off with a friend on an unsupported ride across five countries in just 6 days covering approximately 600 miles in the process.
17th July – Woking to Dover – 110 miles
18th July – Dunkirk to Ghent – 80 miles
19th July – Ghent to Eindhoven – 100 miles
20th July – Eindhoven to Duisburg – 80 miles
21st July – Duisburg to Brilon – 102 miles
22nd July – Salzkotten to Rottleberode – 130 miles
Challenge 2
With just over a weeks recovery I will be taking on RideLondon on August 2nd cycling as part of the awesome Shooting Star Chase team. Bring on the hills this year after the epic rain of last year shut them down!!
Challenge 3
The following weekend (8th September) I will be undertaking a 50 mile ride with a close friend who organises a ride every year to raise funds for different local charities, but you guessed it, I will be riding for Shooting Star Chase.
Please, please donate all you can, not for me and my inevitable sore behind but for Shooting Star Chase so they can support these children and their families helping them to enjoy life to the fullest in the time that they have.
Thank you all for looking at my page and for any donation big or small.
