Story
Hi! Hoi! Hola! Ciao! Bonjour! हैलो!
Thank you for visiting my JustGiving page. On the 25th of May, I will be running my FIRST EVER race - a 10km run through the City of Westminster and the City of London!
(I attempted to run a 10km race in 2013 when I was fundraising to go to India, but unfortunately I got stress fractures in both my feet and had to call it off :( This time, I am training more wisely - nothing will stop me from completing this course!)
As some of you may know, the charity I am running for - EMERGENCY UK - is close to my heart. I interned with them for a few months as their Campaigns and Outreach Officer. I know first-hand what a great charity this is. In one sentence, EMERGENCY provides free, high-quality medical and surgical treatment to the victims of war, landmines and poverty.
EMERGENCY does not discriminate - for instance, in Afghanistan it treats both Taliban and civilian casualties in the same ward, with some truly inspiring results: http://nyti.ms/18gVCVh. In 2007, EMERGENCY opened a Center for Cardiac Surgery in Sudan, the ONLY specialized and free hospital in Africa: http://bit.ly/1N8Kvy8 (watch the film if you can, it's incredible). EMERGENCY has also been at the forefront of the Ebola crisis in Sierra Leone (happening whilst I was interning for them) and hearing from the staff in the field - their successes, their tragedies - and being sent their Christmas photos all the way from Freetown - solidified my love and respect for this charity and all the people involved.

The doctors, nurses and other medical professionals out in the field have such courage, and the whole organization has this incredible spirit that is rare to find: Everyone is so passionate about their job, caring and loving for their patients and the countries in which they work. This is why I am raising money for them. The money I raise will go to great causes, for instance buying new anaesthetic machines for the Surgical Center in Kabul.
If you have any questions, please do contact me! I know so many people are constantly fundraising and you must wonder where the money goes so please do just ask me. And if you're in London, and are interested in learning more about this fantastic organization, please ask me about upcoming events (on the 10th of March, for instance, for International Women's Day, a midwife who worked in Afgahnistan is going to come and talk about EMERGENCY's Maternity and Gynaecology Centre in Anabah, in the Northern Panshir Valley.)
Thank you SO much for anything you can give :)
