Story
Hello everyone
My wonderful hubbie is having a bit of a mid-life crisis, & has decided to run the Chester half marathon. In the process he's hoping to raise much needed funds for Lupus UK.
This charity supports people on the way to a diagnosis & beyond, as they come to term with it's effects. A recent survey showed that, on average, a diagnosis takes 7 years. My own took 9, & others even longer. Can you imagine being ill for all that time, & no one being able to tell you what's wrong? Or even, being diagnosed with the wrong illness, because lupus can mimic many others.
Lupus UK also supports research into this potential fatal conditon. There is currently no cure. The medications used aim to limit symptoms & on-going damage. But often they have side effects just as bad as the illness itself.
Phill will run on the 12th May. By an amazing coincidence this happens to be the day of the Lupus UK AGM, which is being held here in Chester this year. So when he is toiling around the course, the big guns in lupus treatment & research will actually be here in Chester too working on our behalf.
Please support us if you can. Many thanks, Ruth. X
