Grand Union Canal Half Marathon · 14 November 2010
Hi everybody.
Thanks for taking a look at my JustGiving page which I've started in order to raise money for the Optimum Population Trust. On the 14th November I'm going to do the Grand Union Canal Half Marathon. Yes, just half. One step at a time I say. It will start at Cowley Recreation Ground, Uxbridge at 10am and finish at Cassiobury Park, Watford. So far my longest training run's have been 8 1/2 miles. With my current times, I'm hoping to do the full run in about 2 hours, though that may turn out to be optimistic.
As most of you know, a few months ago I began a degree in environmental studes. Through this I have begun to realise that many of the environmental and economic problems that we are all facing stem from the seemingly indefinate population increase. Land, food and water shortages are not just affecting us, but also the wildlife around us. Through my research I have found education, particularly for women, and family planning to be the most humane and efficient method of dealing with this. Much more preferable to the Chinese method which includes things like fines and forced abortions for parents of more than one child. As I said earlier the charity I'm trying to raise money for is the Optimum Population Trust. This charity is working to make this rather taboo subject more mainstream by bringing it to the attention of government and just about everyone else that they can. Sometimes working with other charities, they are educating people about the benefits of family planning.
I have so far had a few generous donations, and also my bosses at Take 2 Films have agreed to match anything I make, as long as nobody decides to donate too huge a sum of money. Thanks for your support, and remember, the more I make off you, the more I make off my company.
I've left the JustGiving welcome blurb on the bottom of my page as I think it might give a little reasurrance to anyone donating to my chosen charity through the site.
Thank you very much for supporting me.
