Phoebe takes on the London Marathon 2019 for COMBAT STRESS

London Marathon 2019 · 28 April 2019 ·
Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page.
A little bit about me…
I have always been very keen on sport, in particular running. Sadly, due to my love for all things energetic, my left knee decided that it would go on strike when I was 16. Having had corrective surgery at the end of 2016 and not running for more than 12 months, I have managed to get the knee in the best shape since I was 16! Aside from my love of running, I enjoy setting myself challenges that will push me.
Ever since I was a young cross country runner, I have wanted to do the London Marathon – in short, I decided if I was going to force my knee through any challenge, it would be THE best marathon in the world! So here I am, training like mad to get to that start line in April 2019 ☺
The Cause…
BUT I am not lining up on that start line in April just for me. I have the privilege of running in aid of Combat Stress, a charity that provides vital mental health support to veterans of the armed forces. This ranges from facilitating weekly peer support groups to the six-week residential PTSD treatment programme at one of their specially designed support centres.
Invisible injuries can be just as hard to cope with as physical ones. Combat Stress helps veterans cope with the present, tackle the past and take on the future. Some may find that using just one of their services will change their lives; others may need more to get back on the right path. What’s important is that the Charity will be there to help every step of the way.
I for one hugely admire and respect those who have signed the dotted line to put themselves in harm’s way on our behalf. If you can, please join me in supporting this wonderful charity and the vital work it does. Your generosity, no matter how much, is greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your support – it means so much to me, and more importantly the team at Combat Stress and the veterans they help. AND anyone who fancies joining me for a spin, just give me a shout ☺!
