Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
As we - Nicole, Paul, Daniel (11) and Théo (7) - embark on our 6 month adventure to Kigali, Rwanda, we would like to take the opportunity to let our family and friends know about the remarkable work that VSO does throughout the developing world.
VSO is allowing us to experience life in part of the developing world as a family and hopefully make a contribution, however small, to a place less privileged than Twickenham.
Nicole has taken up a role in Kigali promoting the rights of disabled persons as part of the African Decade of Persons with Disabilities. Paul and the boys are taking part in local Kigali life, which will include the boys attending a local school. You can read more about our daily life on the boys blog http://pichehainsworth-inrwanada.blogspot.com/
VSO aims to place volunteers with specific skills from the UK, Canada, the US, the Netherlands, Kenya, India and the Philippines into appropriate roles - to empower the poorest and most marginalised in the world's most deprived countries and to enable the sharing of knowledge and experience.
Though VSO does not ask volunteers to fund their own placements, it encourages volunteers to raise greater awareness of VSO's work and its wider development objectives.
We are only too happy to do this. Throughout the 12 month journey, from the submission of the initial application to starting the placement, we have been impressed by the professionalism and integrity of the organisation.
If you are able to do so, it would be fantastic if you could make a contribution, no matter how small, to VSO. To find out more, please click onto the link to VSO's website on the lower left-hand side of the page.
