Story

Thanks for visiting the MS Pilates Marathon sign-up page.

If you’ve never tried Pilates, now is your chance! This fundraising event will take place on Sunday 20th September from 9.30am - 12.30pm at Trailfinders Sports Club, Vallis Way, West Ealing, London W13 0DD.

The 3 hour marathon is raising money for the Ealing Multiple Sclerosis Society and will be led by Rima Majed from Pilates Body Shape. The classes will be suitable for any fitness level and you don’t need any prior Pilates experience.

The marathon will be split into four sessions:

Session 1: 09.30am – 10.15am Legs & Abs
Session 2: 10.20am – 11.05am Core & Back

15 minute break

Session 3: 11.20am – 12.05am Legs & Abs
Session 4: 12.10pm – 12.55pm Core & Stretch

Each 45 minute session costs £10 and you can choose to do as few or as many sessions as you like. Spaces are available on a ‘first come first serve’ basis and it is a maximum of 30 people per session, so in order to reserve your place, please email your full name, contact email/number and preferred session to Cara at blindedfish@hotmail.com.

You need to reserve and pay for your slot in advance – you cannot just turn up on the day. If you pay on this page, please leave your full name in the comment section. If you don’t want to pay online, you can pay by cash or cheque, but again it must be in advance, so please contact me and I'll give you the address of where to send payment to.

What to bring

If you have an exercise mat, or can borrow one, please bring it, as well as a towel.

Thank you for your support!

What is Pilates?

Pilates is a method of exercise that consists of low-impact flexibility and muscular strength and endurance movements. Core strength is the foundation of Pilates. The core muscles are the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back. Pilates emphasizes the use of the abdominals, lower back, hips and thighs to build strength in the core muscles for better posture, balance and flexibility.

What is Multiple Sclerosis (MS)?

Multiple Sclerosis (or MS) is a chronic autoimmune condition, where the body's immune system mistakenly attacks healthy body tissue in the central nervous system, (the brain, spinal cord, and optic nerves). Each nerve fibre in the brain and spinal cord is surrounded by a layer of protein called myelin, which protects the nerve and helps electrical signals pass from the brain to the rest of the body.  With MS, the myelin becomes damaged, which disrupts the transfer of these signals, resulting in a range of symptoms, such as; numbness in the limbs, spasticity, problems with co-ordination and balance, pain, loss of bladder control and in more severe cases, paralysis and blindness.
