Great Manchester Run 2021 · 26 September 2021 ·

Every day in the UK, another 240 people wake up to the catastrophic impact of a stroke. The Stroke Association is the only charity in the UK providing lifelong support for all stroke survivors and their families.

Story

8 years ago my dad, David, suffered a 2nd stroke causing massive health complications and eventually leading to his death 5 days later. The impact of the initial stroke seven years previous to this was life changing resulting in significant weakness down one side, affecting his speech and mobility. Despite this David, maintained his positive attitude to life and found great support from the stroke association, attending a group which supported those with communication needs, a group in which he thoroughly enjoyed attending.

The stroke association provides support for victims of strokes and their families through various awareness campaigns, support groups and research.

Over the next few months I will be completing a number of running and fitness based challenges including the virtual London marathon 2020 (October 2020), the virtual Manchester marathon 2020 (October 2020) the great Manchester 1/2 (may 2021) the Brighton marathon (September 2021) and the Manchester marathon (October 2021) amongst others.

With regards to Covid19, I intend to still run each of these challenges regardless of whether the official event goes a head or not, so please still donate
