Story

I enjoy running and the challenge it presents as a physical actvity. However, lately it got me thinking that there could be so much more to running, than just keeping fit and healthy.

I have been running regurarly for the last 3 months and I was looking forward to participating in my first 10km mini marathon in September, in support of an orphanage here in Moldova. Although the run was canceled, I didn't give up the idea and signed up for the half marathon organized in Bucharest. This summer I decided to run for a cause, to express my solidarity to the brave people that fight for other people's health and well being, and play small role in making other people's lives better. And the challenge of running and the increased physical effort reminds me that some people are not nearly as fortunate and that they need to go through even more demanding "battles" every day, in order to survive.

There are a lot of charities in Moldova that are doing a great job and give back to the community.  One of them is Hospice Angelus, who besides being a truly unique organization, they are also my friends, that happily accepted me to embark together with them on this journey and experience the joys of contributing to the Moldova's community.
The services provided by Hospice Angelus Moldova are all FREE and therefore relies on the support of individual donors and companies, who are interested in supporting Hospice's work.

Hospice Angelus Moldova is the leading provider of care to children and adults in Europe’s poorest country suffering from life-limiting and incurable illnesses. Every year, 8000 people are diagnosed with cancer in Moldova and of these, 6000 will lose their battle simply because they do not know how to recognize the symptoms and as a result, when they do visit their doctor, it is often too late for treatment and they are sent home to die in pain.
The Hospice team believe that EVERYBODY has the right to die pain-free and with dignity. You can read more about Hospice Angelus Moldova by visiting their website: www.hospiceangelus.md or by viewing this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=shidj9yRyjE

£10 will provide transport for one of Hospice medical teams to make home visits for 1 month

£25 will pay for the medication for all of Hospice patients for one week

£50 will pay for the care of 1 child for 1 week.

Please give WHATEVER you can- all proceeds go DIRECTLY to Hospice Angelus Moldova's work!
