Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Just over two years ago I nearly lost my daughter as she slipped into a diabetic coma. She was 7 years old and the warning signs were not noticed until it was nearly too late. She was seemingly her happy self just a couple of days before she lost consciousness.
It had a massive impact on her life, not only having to face daily blood tests and insulin injections but having to deal with the psychological impact of knowing what life was like before Diabetes and the old age heart breaking question of ‘why did this happen to me Dad?’
Fortunately, Poppy has embraced it and has realised that life isn’t limited for a diabetic, just different. But this isn’t as easy as it seems and for many of those diagnosed and their families it is a very upsetting and difficult journey and the more support shown, the more improvements can be made to the lives of all diabetics and their families.
Whilst I was aware of diabetes as a condition, I had no idea of the impact it can have on everyone’s lives physically and mentally, how common it is and how it can happen to any of us at any stage. It really is a cause worthy supporting as it could impact any of us at any time.
The work undertaken by Diabetes UK is so pivotal to the lives of all diabetics.
