London Triathlon 2010 · 7 August 2010 ·

The Lowe Syndrome Charity is run by parents for medical research for Lowe Syndrome (& Dent's disease) families. Babies are born with multiple symptoms including cataracts in both eyes, failure to thrive, weak muscles and bones, kidney problems, cysts & autism.

Story

A team that prides themselves on zero preparation and past athletic prowess (well at least in Charlotte's case).

This Saturday (August 7th) - a team of 2 Brits and 1 American will take part in this year's London Triathlon.

Charlote will aim to get us out to a good lead with the 1 mile swim, with Tom then doing his best Lance Armstrong impression with the 40 km cycle and Rob finishing up with a 10 km run.

To keep us motivated, we are participating in the Triathlon to raise money for our chosen charity – Lowe Syndrome Trust.  The charity supports families and initiates and funds medical research into Lowe Syndrome. Lowe Syndrome is a genetic disorder that can occur with no family history, affecting boys and multiple physical and mental handicaps including cataracts in both eyes, muscle weakness (hypotonia or floppy baby syndrome), kidney problems, cysts, brittle bones, arthritis, poor growth, mental impairment with behaviour problems (autistic spectrum disorder) and epilepsy. Sadly the life expectancy for these children is short due to the complications of the disease and the lack of funding to find a cure.

Any donations, whether large or small, will certainly help keep us motivated.

Many thanks in advance !
