Help Them Breathe Fundraiser

Taylah Pringle is raising money for Cystic Fibrosis QLD

Help them breathe O₂ Fundraiser · 11 July 2021

Cystic Fibrosis Queensland is the peak community NFP charity working with the increasing number of people living with cystic fibrosis who attend a Queensland Health clinic for treatment. We advocate for the cystic fibrosis community and seek to raise awareness of this insidious condition.

Story

Our last fundraiser was before covid, which was the running for CF. Our son, Hunter, raised $770.60 for Cystic Fibrosis Queensland.

The reason we pick CFQ is that I, Taylah, have Cystic Fibrosis and have seen firsthand how they help families during challenging and difficult times. I have had an incredibly hard time over the last 2 years with my CF and other uncontrollable factors, but thankfully CFQ was always there if I needed them.

How it will work this year, every $2 =an exercise, eg $6=3 squats or $20 = 10 pushups
The more donations the more will be done, we want to reach our $1000 goal, which is why it isn't every $1.
Why not do a big donation and challenge Josh? Get him running some kms? Swimming laps? Want Hunter to do 20 pushups? Donate $40. Want Taylah to actually stop and rest? You can give me birthday money when it comes around.

This is a whole family fundraiser- Josh, Taylah, Hunter, Tillie, and Hugo.
These fundraisers mean a lot to us, so please please help us reach our goals.
We go through many hardships directly or indirectly from the CF, but my army of Pringles always love and help me.

Some Facts of Cystic Fibrosis🌹

🌹Cystic fibrosis is a recessive genetic condition, which means that people are born with it. It occurs equally in males and females.

🌹To have a child with cystic fibrosis, both parents must be a carrier of the cystic fibrosis gene change. If both parents are carriers of the cystic fibrosis gene change, then with each pregnancy there is:

  •  a 25% chance of that child having cystic fibrosis;

  •  a 50% chance that child will not have cystic fibrosis, but will be a carrier of the cystic fibrosis gene; and

  •  a 25% chance of that child neither having cystic fibrosis nor being a carrier.

🌹In Australia 1 in 2,500 babies are born with cystic fibrosis every year, about one every four days.

🌹Around 1 in 25 Australians carry the cystic fibrosis gene – that’s one million people – and most are unaware that they are carriers. Because carriers of cystic fibrosis are unaffected and show no symptoms, it is hard for them to appreciate that cystic fibrosis may be a real risk.
