Hi, I’m Priya and I’m 20 years old. This June, I’m excited to have been given the opportunity to volunteer in Sri Lanka for 3 weeks. I will be working closely on 2 programmes, the Marine and Wildlife Conservation and Textiles and Design Development programme. I’m thrilled to be volunteering for the charity, Travelteer Impact, as they support communities all year round and help sustain the environment for future generations.
What am I doing ?
2 weeks of volunteering whilst working on two unique programmes, that consist of several challenging and diverse projects.
Marine and Wildlife Conservation: The projects include working in a local turtle hatchery to rehabilitate and release sea turtles back into their natural habitat. Agriculture project and jungle re-plantation, where fruits and vegetables are planted for the community. Cleaning and collecting plastic and other hazardous waste from the river and beach to restore and protect it for the marine life.
Textile and Design Development: Providing paid employment for local mothers in the community and supporting local women to start up businesses. Enhancing and training new textile skills to women from the community as well as teaching skills and training women on IT.
What is the Travelteer Impact Charity?
Travelteer Impact empowers under developed communities and their environments in Sri Lanka. All the funds are raised by volunteers who participate in the volunteering programmes. By donating to a volunteers page you will be directly contributing to our efforts and helping us achieve our aims and goals.
100% of donations made will go directly towards the projects I am involved in. The projects we work with are often under-developed and there is much need for even basic facilities. Here you can see some of what your fundraising can provide
Any donations made from yourself would be extremely appreciated because not only are you helping to improve the environment but enabling a difference to be made in the world.
So thank you!
