Story
As part of my rehabilitation for stress & depression; I have started street dance classes. As I am 37, overweight & relatively unfit - this has taken me right out of my comfort zone! This is therefore a form of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and should help to get me out of the house, moving and hopefully losing weight.
As a huge music fan - and a big Michael Jackson fan; I have always admired dance and have now embraced it in a way I never thought I would - and am loving it!
Every good street dancer needs a good pair of trainers - or 'kicks' as they are known! I have spotted the exact ones I want: Adidas Superstar 80's Gold - but they cost £80; and I cannot justify the cost. I have therefore decided to save up for them at a rate of £10 per month.
In Hip Hop culture you can't just buy a pair of trainers - you have to 'earn your kicks'. So; I have decided to match every £10 I save each month with BBC Children In Need. My plan is to learn and perfect a dance move every month and upload a video of me performing it. Each time I do I will pay myself £10 - and donate £10 to Pudsey at the same time.
In November - on the official BBC Children In Need night; I will then ask to be sponsored to perform a routine incorporating all of the moves I have learned - in public!
Seeing as my personal issues stem from childhood traumas, BBC Children In Need is a charity very close to my heart and I am both proud and grateful to be able to support them.
If you would like to help me reach my goal of £100 by November 1st 2016 then please give as much as you can on this page. I will not be taking donations for the trainers - it is up to me to both save for them and earn them - but Pudsey needs us so please show your support.
Help me and Pudsey earn kicks for Children In Need!
