Story
The Cause ... Our charity, the Quilter Foundation, is launching a campaign to give tens of thousands of young carers the chance at a brighter future. Young carers take on responsibilities that most do not have to bear growing up, often sacrificing their own prospects and wellbeing at the same time.
Today, there's an estimated 700,000 young carers in the UK, looking after loved ones with disabilities, long term illnesses, mental health issues or addiction problems.
The funds we raise will help our partner, Carers Trust, provide thousands of young people with immediate respite and support to pursue their own education and employment ambitions.
Our Challenge ... In support, 24 members of our team will be walking the 16 miles from our office in St Pauls to Richmond on the 3rd October.
Remember ... Any support you can offer could make a huge difference to a young person's life!
- £50 could fund an art therapy session to increase a young carer's confidence and well-being
- £150 could fund a 16-year old carer to receive 1:1 math tuition to pass a GCSE
- £500 could fund an employability workshop to support young carers aged 20-24 with interview skills and help them get their dream job
- £750 could fund a series of mindfulness sessions for young carers starting university to improve their resilience and find more time to focus on their aspirations
- £1000 could go towards a Transition Worker's salary, who can offer 1-2-1 support to young carers
- £2000 could fund a 4-day residential event for young carers aged 16-18 to take a break from their caring role, identify hopes and dreams for the future and build confidence
