My Story:

After many years of many different Doctors trying to identify my issues, I was diagnosed with Mid-Aortic Syndrome in 2012.

Mid-aortic syndrome (MAS) is a very rare condition in which part of the aorta (the heart’s largest blood vessel) that runs through the chest and abdomen becomes narrow with growth. This can lead to lower blood flow in the chest, abdomen and lower limbs becoming potentially life threatening and requires expert care.

After discovering what my diagnosis was, doctors wanted to wait a few years until I was fully grown in order to operate. This takes me to August 2017 where I was admitted into London Royal Free Hospital to undergo a brutal 12 hour surgery.

During this operation, surgeons Mr Colin Foreman, Miss Meryl Davis & Professor George Hamilton worked tirelessly on a Aortic bypass & Auto Kidney Transplant for me. In layman's terms, this means that they removed both my kidneys, stitched a Dacron bypass tube above the narrowing and back in below it. They then reattached both kidneys to the middle aorta and were placed in the front of my abdomen rather than the back where they should be!

After all this they stitched me back up and I was in recovery in intensive care for 4-5 days, then on ward for another 4-5 days and then back home for a long 3-4 month full recovery.

Donating to this Charity, your money will be used to purchase medical equipment to help renal patients have improved outcomes, purchase equipment to make patients' lives more bearable and to support hardship or personal development cases.

Any donations or even sharing this page is greatly appreciated.

Thank you :)
