Hello!
I'm back running the Race For Life again after having a great experience in my first run in 2006. Race For Life is extra special because when you are running (and lagging behind everyone else) you are truly motivated by the messages pinned on everyone's vests and shirts. You are literally surrounded by people who have: lost loved ones; are battling the disease right there and then; have beaten cancer and survived; are running in memory of friends and family - and you just keep running for all the right reasons.
I'll be running for my grandparents Tommy, Nora and Joan all of who lost their lives to cancer, and for my friend Chris Mallet who also lost the fight far too young. This run is also for my Dad, Ron who battled and survived prostate cancer in 2003 - it just goes to show that putting money into research, early screening and recovery really can save lives...so please help me to do just that!
I hope you can spare a little time to donate some of your hard-earned cash in support of this charity, which is close to my heart. I really appreciate any amount that you can give. I have paid my entry fee to cover all the event costs, so the money you part with today can go straight to beating cancer.
Thanks so much for visiting my page. See you all soon.

P.S A wee update for you...training started yesterday - painfully. Me and Fiona started out on what was expected to be a gentle lap around the university loch. Only just over half way round I took a rather nasty tumble, which from Fiona's account sounds more like some sort of unidentified breakdancing move. Four metres of fighting the ground later, I finally succumbed. After realising that there were a few rather unfortunate lumps were sticking out of my elbow, Fiona whisked me off to casualty. Luckily I haven't done anything major and my arm is only as bruised as my ego. With training starting out like this, I'm even more appreciative of the support you are giving me. So thanks...and here's to staying on my feet in future!!
