So many lives have been touched by this dreadful disease. I have lost a grandmother, an aunt, and a cousin, as well as witnessing the loss of parents of friends. But there are also survivors -- my stepmother, other friends -- people who wouldn't have survived without treatments that have come out of research. That is why organisations like Cancer Research UK are so important -- and why events like this which enable that work to continue are so vital.
I am running this race with my daughters, Marisa and Hannelore (ages 9 and 14). This will be their first race, and I am so incredibly proud and grateful to be able to do this with them.
