Story

Help more people beat cancer.

Thank you for visiting my Race for Life sponsorship page.

I was diagnosed with a very rare type of cancer last July 2010.  It is called Sarcoma and it is a soft tissue cancer it accounts for one per cent of all cancers. There's about 2000 cases a year in the UK, that and money are some of the reasons why there is not enough research done about this particular cancer and charities like Cancer Research play such an importan role. They really make a difference and truly save lives and make cancer in many cases curable.

When the doctor broke the news to me my whole world collapsed. First thing that came to my head was my children. When the doctor asked me if I had any questions I said yes, Am I going to die? The word cancer sounds like "death sentence". It did to me.

There is no history of cancer in my family and all of you that know me know that I do not smoke or drink and that I have quite a normal life style (my husband would call it boring!). This just comes to show that it can happen to anyone, no matter what your life style, age or gender is. I never in a million years thought cancer could affect my life so directly.

When I was having radiotherapy at UCL hospital everyday I met lots of different people with different types of cancer, elderly, middle age people, young teenagers and children. I saw the suffering of these people in their faces and the saddest to see were the children, who unaware of their illness ran along the hospital corridors to have their treatment...

Please dig deep and sponsor me online – it’s quick, easy and totally secure..Don't just do it for me, do it for my children and all those children who live fighting cancer, for all those who suffer so badly and their families.

I consider myself lucky because I have been born in a developed country, because I live in London where there is one out of  two specialist units (for my type of cancer) in the whole country. Because I have had the best possible treatment available in today's world. Hospitals like UCL and RNOH have been and still are absolutely wonderful. Whenever I feel worried about something they always see me at the drop of a hat. I am sooo grateful. I could not wish for a better treatment.

What about the ones that are not so lucky?
