Race for Life June 21st 2009 -, !

It’s that time of year again when I ask ALL my relatives, friends, colleagues and associates to dig deep, do something selfless and donate as much as possible………..OR as little as £2 – because every penny really does count!!

There are a million reasons why I run this race; for all the lives I’ve seen touched by cancer, for members of my own family suffering and recovering, for the loved ones of my friends, for all the stories I hear each and every week and especially for Sarah, my amazing, courageous, beautiful best friend!!

Before Sarah was struck by this relentless disease (Hodgkin’s Lymphoma), like many of you, I never thought about “The Big C”. It was always something that happened down the street or in another home………But the facts are true, 1 in 3 of us will be affected in our lifetime and the results can be devastating. I am pleased to tell you all that 18 months after Sarah was first diagnosed, she is now in remission, all thanks to the amazing treatment she received, hugely funded by charities just like this one! Sarah is one of the lucky ones, and every day I am thankful she pulled through, but millions of people continue to suffer and die every day. This is why I will continue to run this race and shamelessly beg for your pennies so that research and medicines can continue to improve and pave the way to curing cancer once and for all!

The race takes places on Sunday 21^st June and for added amusement we will all be dressed in fluorescent 80s costumes! Photographic evidence will be provided upon request, so if you have already donated to this Charity this year, consider this donation to be in aid of me and all my friends looking ridiculous running round a field like escapees from “Fame!”.
