Story
Thank you for visiting Kirsten Jane's Race for Life fundraising page. I'm so touched with donations so far. This is the first time I've done something like this as I'm usually sponsoring others.
I'm so proud of myself, I did it in an hour at a decent walking/waddling speed! I was even passing other walkers. The day was an amazing experience. This is the first of many. Very emotional at the start then it was brilliant. It would have been my mum and dad's 50th wedding anniversary to the day, the Monday, the day after the race, July 14th. Unbelievable timing.
Events like Race for Life are an important way in which Cancer Research UK is able to fund its life-saving work into preventing, diagnosing and treating cancer. By sponsoring me now you could help more people survive cancer.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me - Cancer Research UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, at least an extra 25% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you when you tick the Gift Aid box.
So please sponsor me now!
I will be 5 and a half months pregnant at the time of the race so I'll be waddling round without my almost 2 year old. I've been told it's a hard race so I'll be leaving Georgia with Richard. My personal reason for doing this is in memory of my dad Eric who died 16 weeks before I got married at the age of 78, 6th April 2004, my good neighbour Daria who died 3 days before her 40th, a university friend Shauna who died at the age of 24 and for a good friend of my husband's parents Liz, who may not make it to the date of the race? Unfortunately Liz passed away about a week after I set this webpage up.
So many of my friends have lost loved ones through cancer and many of my clients too, many are suffering now. It's deep in all of our hearts, I can't possibly write all the names down on my sheet, they wouldn't fit on, but we know who they are and that is just as important.
Thank you to everyone! I got around in an hour and I certainly wasn't last. Lots of love Kirsten Jane x x x
