As many of you are aware, my mum Judith was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer in July last summer and since then my family and I have learnt what 'having cancer' really means.

It has been a long 10 months, filled with words and phrases such as 'mastectomy' and 'low immune system' to understand and worry about, but thankfully my mum was given the 'all clear' on Friday 13th May after going through a 5 month cycle of chemotherapy and a 5 week couse of Radiotherapy.

Mum has coped with the treatment extremely well, and I would like to thank the fantastic network of friends who have been so amazing in looking after my mum and supporting my dad.  

With working full time it has been hard for me to help my mum and dad on a day-to-day basis, and I thought it was time to get off the sofa and make a difference for other people dealing with cancer. And so, on July 17th I shall be taking part in the Race for Life event at Plymouth Central Park with two of my best mates, Cat and Jen.
