Thank you all for visiting my web page. I know I said I wouldn't be doing this again so sorry for being a pest.

Some of you know already that my Mum died with Breast cancer. Three years ago my eldest sis Jacqueline also was diagnosed with Breast cancer and had a single mastectomy then went on to have a 2nd mastectomy and recently had an operation to remove her fallopian tubes and overies as a preventative measure. Also some tests were done to determine if there was a gene fault with our family which took 2 years to get the answer. In the meantime my next elder sister Eileen was diagnosed with breast cancer aged 41 and had a double mastectomy and has just finished 6 cycles of chemotherapy. The gene test result came the day after Eileen was diagnosed and unfortunately the test showed that we have a gene fault -BRCA2 - in our family. I was tested in March 2009 and received my result April 14th 2009. I too have the gene fault. Unfortunately this has put my risk of developing Breast cancer up to 80% (or 4 in 5) chance. As this is so high I have decided that the best course of action is to have my breasts removed and later will also opt for removal of my fallopian tubes and ovaries. I do feel very positive and urge you not to feel sorry for me or my sisters but to support my race for life which means so much to me. I am doing the Townley park run and also the race for life event at Witton park Blackburn on Wednesday the 3rd of June. I do appreciate that with the current financial climate most people are struggling to make ends meet but I am begging for even the smallest donations. Research as come such a long way and will keep progressing with events like Race For Life. These will be my Fourth and Fifth Race For Life events which I always run. I have already started training and sincerely promise not to let a single person down who sponsors and supports me. I will try and run my best time for you all.
