Story

On the 7th July Ella and a whole pile of her buddies and their mums will be taking part in the race for life. In normal circumstances this would not be that unusual - it is a well publicised and participated event.

For Ella this marks a massive milestone in her fight against cancer. She was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2010 and in spite of some very harsh treatment she managed to take part in the 2011 race for life. She tolerated her treatment in a way that still seemed way beyond her years.

Just before the end of her treatment a routine scan showed that the tumour had returned. This was very bad news and it knocked us more than can be imagined, particularly as she seemed so well at the time.  We were told there was a small chance that with stronger and more specific treatment she may be able to overcome this relapse. The treatment was much more agressive and we saw our little girl suffer profoundly; ultimately we never lost hope. She has had to deal with so much in her short life and continues to progress and defy the odds; she is a happy little girl who seems to take it all in her stride, needless to say she makes us very proud.

This year Ella is making her comeback in the race for life. She has never forgotten her first race and is excited to be back again. Please support her and her friends. No amount is too small, every little helps and will go some way to finding better and more effective ways to fight this horrible disease.
