Hello everyone! Well, after many, many miles of training, I succesfully completed the Race for Life in 33mins 10 secs. Out of 3595 participants I am told that my friend, Allison, and I were somewhere between 60-70th. It was an emotional but massively uplifting experience and I will never forget the feeling of sprinting the last 100m to the finish line being cheered on by 100's of spectators. The very best thing though is that I have already received or have had pledged £420. So my heartfelt thanks go to you all for your financial support of me doing the race, and for all your kind words and encouragement over the last year with my weight loss and fitness regime.

When I started on quite an extensive diet and fitness routine last year, my friend Allison threw down the challenge for me to run the Race for Life with her this summer. Not one to shy away from such a dare, I agreed....as long as I didn't have to wear any Lycra!!

So, here I am, almost 6 stones lighter than I was, considerably fitter and the proud owner of a pair of proper running shoes....now they were something I never thought I'd ever buy! I've trained hard and am confident I'll be able to complete 5km (3.1 miles) race as I am able to run 4.5+ miles at the moment. I'm steadily increasing the distance each week too whilst decreasing my times.

It will be a privilege to participate in the Race For Life because so much good can come from the money it raises. Personally, I'm running it in memory of two people close to me who suffered from different types of cancer - my brother, Kevin, who died in 1979 of Leukaemia, and of my father-in-law, Brian, who died from Myeloma in 2009.

So, please dig deep to sponsor me, but whatever the amount, I am grateful for your support. Thank you!
