Story
My Story . . .
So I hoped it was a blocked milk duct when I found a lump in my left breast last June whilst on a family holiday in Greece. I was 31, a heavily 27 weeks pregnant and enjoying every minute of growing our little bun.
After examinations and biopsies my amazing husband, James and I were told that "It isnt good news" and that I have Breast Cancer.
From then on my main concern was that the baby would be ok. I was in the fantastic hands of The Breast Care Team at Southmead, Bristol.
They were happy for me to go under local anaesthetic whilst having a lumpectomy with removal of lymph nodes. We were all so super relieved that they found no sign of spread.
George was delivered 6 weeks early to allow my Chemo to start. He stayed in Intensive Care for a couple of weeks but has developed beautifully into our healthy, amazing miracle "Monkey":)
I've had 4 months of Chemo followed by intense Radiotherapy and continue on now with Herceptin Treatment until December. Putting the never-ending side effects aside, we have stayed super positive along the journey so far.. .and Georgie without doubt makes every day a smiley one!
I think these things happen to test you.. I had no idea I was so strong. It makes you put life into perspective .. to enjoy the simple things that we normally take for granted. . like watching George whilst he sleeps and playing silly games with him:)
I'm just so lucky that my story is a happy one. There are too many people who's stories are so so different! Every one knows of someone who has lost their precious life to this frigging hideous disease!!
George and I are taking part in the Race for Life in July with a group of the most amazing and supportive friends and family!!... to raise money to help towards finding a cure for everyone in the future!
So please dig deep... as little or as much as you like! Sponsor us now, and we can beat cancer's Big Hairy BUTT!!
