A huge thank you to everyone who sponsored us. We raised an amount that exceeded our hopes and is much more than we could have dreamt of.
You are all wonderful - many thanks for your generosity.
We are the WAGs – or West Ashtead Girls – a group of mums from West Ashtead School who are taking part (running or walking depending on fitness levels, inclination or amount of chat being conducted whilst en route!) to do our bit to help fight this horrible disease.
As a group we have had more than our fair share of associations with cancer, some with happy outcomes and others which have been incredibly sad and difficult to cope with. Whatever has happened, or will happen, we are a group of really good friends who help each other through what life throws at us.
This is the third year we have taken part in the Race for Life, and each year our merry band has grown. In 2009 we inspired some of our daughters to join us and this year is no different ... if our sons could join in we would certainly be a force to be reckoned with.
In 2009, the 20 of us who took part raised an amazing £2,644. So, in true fundraising style, this year we want to do even better. Please dig deep and sponsor us – it’s quick, safe and very easy to do online.
Many thanks xxx

Messages from the WAGs:
Lindsey Collumbell: Cancer affects everyone, not just the person who has been diagnosed. The ripple effect goes far and wide and this walk is my way to help do something to fight this horrible disease. This year, one of our team is no longer with us but you can bet your life that every one of us has her at the forefront of our mind and in our hearts. This one's for you Heather Honey xxx
Sam, Charlotte & Jasmine Peel: Cancer knows no boundaries and affects everyone even remotely touched by this indiscriminate evil disease. One of our team lost her fight this year and is not able to join us so we are running for Heather and her boys ... hopefully this year we will do you proud and smash last year's sponsorship ... we miss you honey xxx
Linda Rossi: I will be taking part each year in the hope that somehow cancer can be finally beaten. But this year I am taking part to honour the memory of Heather (who was a true inspiration) and for my Dad who didn't even get the chance to fight it.
Louise, Holly, Lydia & Anya Stead: Proud once again to be part of a group raising money for such a great cause. In memory of Heather and all the others we know who have been affected by cancer this year.
McCartney Girls: An evil disease that takes out such brilliant people like Heather. H - always in our hearts and thoughts. Renouf boys - you are a shining example of how to deal with whatever life throws at you ... we will totally run our legs off for you and raise as much dosh as we can.
