RGS Dodderhill

On Friday 20th November we are having a ‘Purple Day’ to raise money for Bliss and mark World Prematurity Day in memory of Dr Vishna Rasiah.
Many of you will be aware that Dr Rasiah, father of Katelyn in Year 3 at RGS Dodderhill, tragically died of Covid-19 earlier this year. Through discussions with Katelyn’s Mum, we have been discussing ways that we can give our school community the opportunity to support the memory of this wonderful man.
Dr Rasiah was a neo-natal Consultant at The Birmingham Women and Children’s Hospital. He was a passionate advocate of World Prematurity Day which is a global movement to raise awareness of premature birth and the sometimes devastating impact it can have on families. On this day Bliss comes together with partners from around the world to raise awareness and money to give every baby born premature or sick in the UK the best chance of survival and quality of life.
We are asking the girls to support this cause wholeheartedly by wearing purple and white on Friday in return for a donation of one pound or more.
As this day is in memory of Dr Rasiah we have decided to set up a Just Giving page that parents can donate to additionally if they wish to. The Friends of Dodderhill have kindly agreed to match any money we raise.
Thank you for your support.
