Hello to all!
Here at Royal Holloway University of London's Mens Rugby Club, our members have thrown themselves into our hit Charity Single of 'Tears In Heaven' on Youtube in support of 'Help For Heroes, which we believe to be a great cause, with our boys singing, providing an instrumental backing to the song, and acting in our video.
We have chosen Help for Heroes as we have recognised its tremendous success and achievements, as well as its close-knit links with the rugby community, both at professional and amateur level.
As a Club, we have recorded a cover of ‘Tears in Heaven’, with a music video being made for further entertainment! (Surprisingly) Many of our players have a musical background, with our three Soloists Dominic Stevens, Ollie Edwards and CJ Porter Thaw all being part of Choirs when at school. CJ, our star of the show, was in the hit group ‘The Choir Boys’, and was Christmas number one ten years ago! What started off as a bit of banter in the club has become a serious and committed effort to raise awareness of our charitable efforts. We are very proud of our attempt and are excited with it too .
We have endeavoured also to improve the profile of rugby at university level, which has often received negative connotations, hopefully by raising a lot of money for Help for Heroes, Prostate Cancer (through our 2015 Naked Calendar) and by working in close coordination with our Student’s Union.
