Story
We're done! We successfully completed our #3PeaksByBike and had an amazing adventure in the process! Here are some stats from our long weekend trek...
• 422 miles cycled, averaging 105miles/day at just over 14.1mph
• 28.4 miles hiking over Snowdon, Scafel Pike and Ben Nevis
• 20,839 feet of ascents (11,003 on the bike and 9,876 on foot )
• 52 hours 35 minutes of total workout time over the 4.5 days
• 12,964 calories burned!
A massive thanks for all the support, donations and well wishes! It really helped to push us along when the going got tough! The donation page is now closed and we're declaring at £6,750 raised! We've asked for these funds to be split equally between the Abersoch & Pwllheli stations on the Llyn Peninsular in North Wales that cover the area Dave Hursthouse had his sailing accident in 2007 which was the catalyst for the fundraising... We trust that you feel this is your money well spent! _________________________

From Friday 20th June to Monday 23rd June 2014, Dave Hursthouse & Dave McDonald from the Express Gifts IT team will be taking on the '3 peaks by bike' fundraising challenge for the RNLI. Climbing Snowdon, Scafel Pike and Ben Nevis and cycling the circa 450miles between them over the four days. Paul Cunningham will be joining them as their vital support driver carrying kit and spares and joining Dave and Dave on the mountain climbs for much needed support... A massive feat in its own right! What an adventure!
The plan is...
- Friday ~ Climb Snowdon and cycle to Preston area (110 miles)
- Saturday ~ Cycle to and climb Scafel Pike (100 miles)
- Sunday ~ Cycling through Scotland to Loch Lomand (140 miles)
- Monday ~ Continue the bike ride through Scotland to Ben Nevis and our final climb (100 miles)
How hard can it be!?
The RNLI crews are predominantly volunteers and their equipment and training depends entirely upon charity funding, so please dig deep... You never know when you or someone you care about might need them!
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us and the RNLI - Royal National Lifeboat Institution will receive your money faster and, if you're a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
You can follow our training, fundraising and 'en-route' progress on our Facebook page here ~ https://www.facebook.com/pages/RNLI-3-Peaks-By-Bike/1378450009104320 .
Many thanks for your support
