Castle to Abbey Coastal Challenge · 1 July 2023 ·
In this day and age we all know someone, or you may yourself, feel the effects of changes to your mental health. There are a great many pressures in everyday life, whether they be at home, at work or amongst our social groups. There are no barriers, and anyone of any background and circumstance can find themselves affected.
York MIND are a fantastic local organisation providing services to support individuals recovering from mental ill-health to achieve outcomes that will progress them towards recovery, social inclusion and integration in mainstream activity such as learning, volunteering or employment. They believe that the condition does not define the individual. To that end, they campaign to raise awareness of mental ill health and combat the stigma surrounding mental health conditions. York MIND aims to be an inclusive and accessible organisation, emphasising the importance of acceptance and tolerance of the beliefs, opinions and wishes of its clients.
Such a wonderful organisation needs the support of charitable donations to operate and provide an effective service. Therefore this summer an intrepid team from R S Cockerill will be taking up the Castle to Abbey Coastal Challenge on Saturday 1st July, walking the an epic 22-mile walk along the coastal Cleveland Way from Scarborough Castle to Whitby Abbey to raise money for York MIND. Although this walk is coastal, it’s by no means flat. There’s around 1200m (3,937ft) of ascent - that’s more than summiting Snowdon - so this walk really offers a challenge to conquer. We are aiming to raise £5,000!
