Story

Ok, how do I start this, I'll be honest I am going to ride this race anyhow.

I could have chosen to ride with a team I could have chosen to ride the first or the last 12 hrs, they are all options. However the big kahuna the blue ribbon is riding the full 24hrs on your own. Yep no sleep,  every moment standing still is a moment the other competitors are getting ahead or catching up. It's a battle with your own body and mind. It's one whole of one day on a bike off road.

So I thought lets not be totally selfish it's a challenge up there with the big ones so let's do it for charity.

What to choose was easy, a few years ago I was introduced to a great guy Steve Appolinari, Steve is a little older than me ;-) and had 4 lovely daughters and so with me having three girls we klicked.

Sadly Steve lost one of his daughters Rachel at the all too young age of 19 to cancer. She fought a short dignified and strong battle against an overwhelming enemy from within. Finally loosing on the fight on the 26th of August 2011.

I decided at that time I would do something to replicate that battle but obviously on a tiny scale and I would do it to raise money to in the fight against the big C.

Well that point in time has arrived so mark in your diaries 26-27 July 2014 and feel free to drop in a couple of quid.

Offers for pit helpers, spectators, cheerleaders, drivers, food prep or general support will be greatly received.

That is all o/

Russ.
