Ummah Welfare Trust was founded to challenge the huge poverty and injustice prevalent in the Ummah today. Inspired by the Islamic teachings of empathy and selflessness, the charity strives to support and uplift the impoverished through the beautiful act of charity.

Story

Life for thousands of families in Somalia remains grim. Food prices remain cripplingly high, health outcomes are still dire and the civil war is now escalating. Alhamdulillah with the support of its donors, UWT’s work continues unabated.

Muhammad Salallahu ‘alaihi wa salam said, ‘…Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala remains committed to help his servant as long as he stays committed to help his brother in need…’ (Muslim)

Now in the medium to long-term phase, UWT intends to embark upon a special project to help 5,000 rural families start a new life.

We have pledged to raise a minimum of £3500.00, to help provide atleast 5 poor rural families with a start of pack consisting of:

- A new handmade steel home - Lasts a lifetime

- A 35kg food package - Contains rice and flour

- A kitchen and wash set - A 45-peice set containing stove, pots, watercooler, etc.

- A family set of clothes - 6 pairs of clothes and 6 pairs of slippers

- A new bedding set - Mattresses, pillows and blankets

- A hygiene set - mosquito nets, soap, miswaaks and more

- A Qur'an and prayer mat

- The books Bulugh ul Maram and Riyadh as-Saliheen

This start-up pack is unique and has been specifically tailored for rural families in Somalia following assessments and surveys. Inshallah 5,000 poor rural families will be provided with such a set.

This aim however can only be fulfilled with your support and generosity. Please donate as little or much as you can, and spread the word to family, friends, colleagues and anyone else you may know, to help give a family in Somalia a new life inshallah.

Jazakallah Khair
