In 2014 when I was first diagnosed I turned to the Breast Cancer Care Helpline. I was lost and scared and emotional. They paired me with a “Someone like me” mentor. That was Sally Anne. Words can’t describe how much that support meant to me that first year. We talked a lot on the phone. Then we met. We’ve been having a hoot together ever since. We have Breast cancer in common but We also share a love of many other things... music, dancing, Liverpool, sushi, inappropriate laughing. We’ve been planning on doing a triathlon together for a long time, my health has delayed plans. Well here we go.... It’s on Sunday. We will swim, cycle, run and giggle together. And we will be proud of our medals forever. And may that be a mighty long time. We plan on dancing to Uptown Funk in our eighties, wearing purple mardy bums.... I’m scared and excited but so happy we are doing this together.
