Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
In October we are taking leave from work to volunteer with a women’s farming cooperative in Nepal and are seeking to raise £1,000 to directly support their projects such as the construction of a polytunnels and funds for materials needed to construct a vegetable collection center which will enhance the women’s commercial vegetable production which will in turn, enable this group of women to further sustain their families and village life.
We will be paying our own travel and accommodation. We will be staying with local families and will be doing what is needed at the time. This includes hands on construction of tunnels, working in the crop fields, with farm animals as well as language teaching in the schools and community. The aim of our visit is one of solidarity. Providing visibility and supporting capacity building. The Rosie May Foundation asks volunteers to give a time commitment to ensure that what we do is meaningful.
The Rosie May Foundation (RMF) Volunteers, works in partnership with Group of Helping Hands (SAHAS) out in Nepal. SAHAS Nepal (local Nepalese NGO) aims to increase the capacity of marginalised communities by using their collective efforts for mobilising resources to improve their prosperity. It focuses its efforts with vulnerable families and rural communities who are socially excluded and deprived of opportunity. With SAHAS Nepal Rosie May supports the Mangri Girls Hostel, Meselmi School Project and the Progressive Women Agriculture Group.
We will be working with the Progressive Women Agriculture Group which is a Women’s Farming Cooperative. The £1,000 we want to raise is a small amount, but this fund can make a significant difference to this community.
