Rachel is running the Stirling Marathon

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I shall be attempting to complete the Stirling Marathon. Anybody who knows me will know that despite my love of sport and being physically active I despise long distance running.
The thought of one paced continuous activity for several hours is definitely going to be my greatest physical and mental challenge to date.
So why am I putting myself through this torture? Well 2018 has been a particularly challenging year, in April we lost my incredible sister in law Cheryl. It was an absolute honour and privilege to be able to call this lady my sister in law and friend. She had the most beautiful soul, lived life to the fullest and brought nothing but joy to all those around her.
At the start December, my beautiful little cousin Jennifer lost her battle to cancer. A devoted and loving mother, wife, daughter and sister, she fought her battle until the end showing incredible courage, strength and bravery.
And so, I am taking on this challenge, to do something that I don’t enjoy, that will challenge me physically and mentally and will push me far outside of my comfort zone. I have no idea if my broken netball body will allow me to attempt to run 26.2miles, or if my mind is strong enough to push through when I want to stop. But whether I walk or crawl I will cross that finish line in memory of those special ladies and hopefully raise a few pennies for an amazing charity in the process; ENABLE Scotland.
