Story
I have spent the last 13 years working to save gorillas and chimpanzees from extinction in Cameroon. My team at Ape Action Africa has saved hundreds of lives by providing a safe home for individuals confiscated from the illegal ape meat and wildlife trafficking trades. We have educated thousands of adults and children to understand the importance of preserving great apes in the wild and supported dozens of local communities with infrastructure and economic improvement programmes to reduce reliance on hunting.
I am proud that we have made a real and positive impact in Cameroon, but there is more work to do and time is running out for gorillas and chimpanzees. I believe that lots of small actions can lead to big change and we can all do something to spread the word and prevent great ape extinction. I am combining my two loves in the 'Running Out of Time' campaign, in which I am challenging myself to a series of marathons and running events in the name of all threatened, wild apes. Recently, I have completed the Broadway (UK) and Paris marathons and this weekend, I'm going to take on my biggest challenge yet - the Isle of Wight Ultra marathon - 70 miles over 2 days! Are you with me?
Take action and make your own voice heard by supporting my run through Justgiving or posting a message of support on our Facebook page. Maybe you'll even decide to join me for the next event? This weekend I'll be running alongside my sister but next time, we would love to run with a big group of game changing great ape lovers! Let's do it!
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Thank you so much for supporting the gorillas and chimps of Cameroon, I really, really appreciate it.
