We educate children living in the slums to enable them to realise their potential

Story

Thank you so much for visiting my page. I ran the Berlin Marathon for Sarah Junior School, Kibera, Kenya. I completed the marathon in 4 hours 40 minutes- no walking and absolutely no stopping!!

is a primary school and kindergarten, providing education, food and vital support for around 100 children who live in Kibera, a slum in . Founded by a 17 year old British girl in September 2006, in partnership with some Kiberan locals,    empowers some of the most vulnerable in  to reach their potential.

Kibera is a largely forgotten place. Yet within its boundaries, a sprawling human jungle of starvation, disease, suffering and political violence exists. works to combat the destructive cycle of poverty which grips Kibera by offering our pupils education, sustenance and security.

Every penny you donate will go DIRECTLY to the school; helping this growing group of young people develop and become intellectually, physically, emotionally and spiritually equipped to define their own futures, despite the desperate conditions they have been born into.

Just to remind you of how much our pennies, cents, centavos, centimes, centesimos can do….

£2 will supply teaching aids for one month

£3 will feed a child for one month

£15 will pay the electricity and fuel bill for one month

£35 will pay the rent for one month

£45 will pay a local cook’s wages to feed the children for one month

£80 will pay a local teacher’s wages for one month

And £2000 will fund the school for the rest of this year.

Anything you give will be so gratefully received and most importantly make such a tangible difference. In a country where almost 50% of children do not complete their Primary Education (World Bank, 2005) Sarah Junior School gives children hope and a chance to get the education they desperately deserve. Not only does it work to motivate and engage children, it also attempts to give them the correct tools so they can change their own stories, rewrite their futures.

is an inspiration. Please help it remain one.

Thank you,

Rachel
