Story

You may have seen my posts about my wonderful friend Gemma. She is my friend of 16 years that I am still so very close to.

We met at highschool and at 15 years old became very good friends. We started hanging out near our local cinema, watching movies and having meals out.. then we discovered boys! This is where the real fun began and where our friendship really blossomed!! Our first friend-date involved the cinema and Gemma breaking the ice by literally pouring her drink and ice down my top... this is when I knew we would get on just fine 🤣🤣🤣

We went to every party together, to our local spot ‘Renny’ most nights of the week to dance to Rhianna on the jukebox, to pool parties and hanging out in a ‘camp’.. which was really just a loft in an outhouse 🤣 We were ALWAYS the first on the dance floor and the last off... From waking up in dog beds and sitting in hot tubs, we have so many funny memories together. We then discovered Ayia Napa at 17 and 18 years old - the party boats and the sling shot.. she was my fellow adrenaline junkie!!

We have supported eachother through great decisions, prepping for job interviews, supporting eachother with changes in our family lives and then the not so good decisions .. mostly drunken I’d say 🤣To dancing and making videos in my first car.. not to forget the tipples 🙈 Tippppples!!

We have shared big birthday bash’s together, 16th, 18th.. 21st and then I went away travelling for just under a year. Gemma was so cute that she wrapped presents for Christmas and my birthday while I was away as she knew I wouldn’t have anything to open in Australia. How thoughtful is that? We were only 22 at the time.

Gemma has such a big heart, she is so kind and she always has an optimistic outlook on everything that comes her way. She is incredible.

Gemma has been partnered up with a lovely man for 14 years now and she is an amazing mother to two beautiful girls. I was so happy for both Gemma and Scott as she has always wanted a family, more than anything. Thank-you Scott for looking after her and making her so happy. I am going to sound like a teenager saying this next part..  🤣🙈- You guys have always been my ‘relationship goals’ !! Haha. But seriously.. you have 🤣

Gemma has a wonderfully supportive and loving family ❤️ Gemma’s Mother and sister Beckey have arranged a charity walk in support of her and others that are affected by brain tumours. This is what I will be doing as part of the Team; ‘Gemma’s Gems 💎’ It would be amazing if you could donate even a small amount to support us in reaching our goal. The Team is open so we welcome anyone that would like to join us on 6/10/19 to support our lovely Gemma.

Gemma’s Dad and Beckey are also arranging other charity fundraising events, such as a carboot sale this Summer so if you have anything to donate, please get in touch. Gemma has a big group of friends that are supporting her all the way which just shows how loved she is 😊❤️

We have seen in our 30’s and now at 31 our friendship is as strong as ever. We are still so crazy and practically have our own language that we invented about 16 years ago..I honestly have no other person in my life that I connect with on that level. A really, really weird level.

From bundling at my 18th birthday party when she arrived, to chest-pumping on the dance-floor and me going flying.. to us doing the cowboy rope infront of onlookers.. to meeting up two months ago and still doing chest-pump.. a double one.. front and back 🤣🤣 I can’t do this with anyone else, we have never been shy together and I LOVE that about her and about how I feel and think when I am with her.

When we found out in 2014 that Gemma was diagnosed with a brain tumour it was such a shock. Gemma has taken it in her stride.. yes, it has been scary but like I said in my post a few months back, she always grabs life by its balls and I am so proud of her for that, as are all of her other friends and family.

She is an inspiration and like I said, I am so proud, so much that I cry about it frequently. I know how strong she is and I know that with our on-going support that she will continue showing us that beautiful smile and her positive energy.

She is approaching the end of an intense course of radiotherapy before starting a course of chemotherapy in hope to keep her tumour stable for a lengthened amount of time. She started experiencing hair loss which is very difficult for anyone, especially a woman. Gemma made the decision to shave her hair, what a woman.. and she is still so gorgeous!! ❤️

I know this is like a love letter but she is my friend and yeah, I do love her, so very much. Please help to support my beautiful friend and everyone else affected by Brain Tumours.

The Brain Tumour Charity is the worlds leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally.  We’re set on finding new treatments, offering the highest level of support and driving urgent change. And were doing it right now. Because we understand that when you, or someone you love, is diagnosed with a brain tumour a cure really can’t wait. Our goals are to double survival and halve the harm that brain tumours have on quality of life.

Any donation would mean the world as it is the thought that shows Gemma just how many people are supporting her to stay strong 💪🏽

We also invite anyone that would like to take part in the Twilight Walk on the 6th October 2019 in Windsor to join Gemma’s Gems via the link on the page, the more the merrier.

 Thank-you x
