On the 27th February 2020, Ryan's life was taken from him in the most unimaginable of circumstances, whilst he was trying to help someone. 

The lasting and far reaching impact of Ryan's murder is not something that can be put into words; his passing continues to have a profound effect on all who knew him and he is missed terribly.

In recognition of Ryan's life and all that he did to help others, three of us planned to run the Manchester Marathon in April 2020 in his memory, proudly raising £1300 for CALM - a charity which Ryan worked hard to raise awareness of. 

Unfortunately, 3 weeks before race day, the Covid-19 lockdown hit and the marathon was postponed. We subsequently ran our final race of 20 miles in Ryan's memory in March 2020, and have been waiting to complete our full marathon in Manchester ever since.

Over the 18 months that have since passed, Hundred Families have provided invaluable support to Ryan's wife and family, whilst working with vital services to learn from the events that took place, in an endeavour to prevent such a tragedy happening again.

The postponement of the marathon has given us the opportunity to recruit some more team members who also knew Ryan, with three of us taking on the full 26.2 miles, and six additional colleagues now taking on a four leg and two leg relay between them.

Ryan's murder could have been prevented. We will be dedicating every step of our challenge to him and his brave family.
