If any of you reading this have suffered from back pains, I can relate. During my early teens I suffered and years later, after many x-rays, physio appointments and hot water bottles I no longer have a back problem. Now I feel it is my time to give back. I can't do this alone and I need your help!

For all of you that know me, you'll be aware that I'm a fan of formula 1 and running. I participated in two separate events, the first was an entirely new type of event never before seen or undertaken in running. The other was dyeing my hair pink.

The running event was hosted by Wings for Life and sponsored by Red Bull Racing, it was the first of its kind. So why was it so special and what is the twist? 

Unlike normal races whereby you have a set distance and you have to pass the finish line in your own time, this race had no set distance as the finish line was chasing me, literally! 30 minutes after I set off a catcher car started driving at 15kmph and as soon as it overtook me, I was eliminated from the race. Forty locations worldwide took part all at the very same time, 10:00am UTC and 11:00am GMT. The aim of the run was to see who gets overtaken last by the catcher car, no matter which country he/she was from.

This unique event was held on Britain's very own Formula 1 track, Silverstone. After running the circuit once, all runners continued running in the countryside of Milton Keynes. I ran this event with some of my best friends, however they didn't dye their hair pink. Despite my friends being sensible and my mother not being keen on the idea, I was still adamant on doing it! I had my hair bleached to blonde and then hair dye put in. My aim for the run was 15-25km (half a marathon) and as you can't have an aim for dyeing hair, I plan to keep my hair pink for twenty days before shaving it off.
