Braving The Shave

In 2015 I lost my mother to a brain aneurysm.
I had never heard of one of these until then, but turns out they're more common than we think. In fact About 3 in 5 people who have a subarachnoid haemorrhage die within 2 hours, with 40% of the population likely to have one.
My mother was only in her 50s, but she lived life to the FULL and I mean FULL. Whether this was moving abroad, dying her hair ridiculous colours, she was the most FUN person I knew. She's the reason I chose to start travelling in the first place.
So why the shaved head? Well head injuries first and foremost are the biggest cause of an aneurysm, so the head seems like a good place to start. I'm also always travelling in hot countries, and trust me, I end up looking like the unknown member of Bon Jovi no matter how many blow dries, cans of hairspray, or products I use.
Besides my hair can always grow back... but brain cells can't. I can get my hair back over time, my mother I can't...
So on the 11th March, prior to flying to Australia, I'm going to be COMPLETELY shaving my head (down to a 1) for Headway. Even the smallest donation will help! And alongside this I will also be donating my hair to the The Little Princess trust, a charity that makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer and other illnesses.
SO I guess I'll be a good egg eh?
