Prostate Scotland aims to inform, support, campaign and advance on prostate disease in Scotland. We raise awareness and provide information about prostate cancer and disease and its treatments. We also promote research and treatment developments on prostate issues across Scotland.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men; 1 in 13 men will develop prostate cancer during their life. Early detection, diagnosis and treatment of prostate problems are key to improving the quality of life for men affected by prostate disease.

It is important to remember, the diagnosis of Prostate cancer like all other cancers does not only affect the individual but also everyone close to him.

With this in mind I am about to embark on my second fund raising event to support the research into and treatment of prostate cancer.  Over the last two years we have raised £42,000 towards improving the delivery of radiotherapy treatment for men with prostate cancer.

The funds raised from this charity event will help towards bringing robotically assisted surgery to Scotland. This is a common method of choice as an alternative to "open surgery" in the USA, England and Europe but not in Scotland as currently we do not have the specialist equipment available.
