Fundraising for Children with Cancer UK
Story
On 31st January 2012, my daughter Vega was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Our world turned upside down. And so started a 2 and half year journey filled with pain, discomfort, and suffering with the occasional high but mainly lows. And although we've been there to hold her hand, it was a journey which Vega would in some ways have to undertake alone.
Fast forward 2 years into treatment with 5 months remaining.
I hope we've done enough.
Nearing the end of treatment, what remains are not the memories of hardship but those of the unconditional support from our friends and family, as well as the charities that have been so pivotal to our hopes of coping and beating this illness.
One of these charities is Children with Cancer, one of the country's leading children's cancer charities. Their work ranges from determining causes, funding research, to supporting families in their day to day life with cancer.
We have many thanks to give to this charity, so to coincide with the end of Vega's treatment, I felt it was only time to embark on a journey of my own, in return for the hope we've been given throughout Vegas journey.
This August (2014) I will cycle from Lands End to John O'Groats in 12 days. That's 1000 miles in 12 days. A minor trip compared to Vega's.
As an extra incentive I would like to make an offer.
What I would like to offer is for anyone who donates £50 I will produce a personalised pencil/charcoal sketch (up to A4) based on a subject of your choosing. For those brave enough to donate £100 or more, I will produce an oil painting (A4).
