Hi Guys
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page.
Yes I really am going to do a tandem flight in a hang glider with World champion Judy Leden from Airways Sports.! I don't like flying so I am going to need a lot of dutch courage ! I first got involved with Open Arms International through the Lakes Gospel Choir. I was singing in a concert in 2009 in Clitheroe when I heard about Open Arms International Eldoret. As a child I was fortunate to have a privileged education at Loreto convent Eldoret. After leaving St Annes school Windermere I trained as a State Registered nurse and midwife so this has a very personal meaning for me. My husband Paul and I began to collect small change through our business ' Helen's Chocolates and its amazing how the pennies can grow. The orphanage has 48 children who have lost their parents through AIDS / HIV or have been made homeless. There is a medical clinic and plans to open a school very soon. I will be raising money to fund the new building in the picture which is going to be a home for ten abandoned new born babies. They will need incubators ,cots sterilising equipment medicines and clothes and of course lots of loving care.I hope to do the tandem flight with Judy in June weather permitting.Judy and I will be strapped into a hang glider and towed up to 3000 feet behind a microlight when Judy will release us. From there its all about flying freely through the air and of course landing safely! In the mean time while waiting for perfect weather I shall be holding a number of events. The Quiz night at the Brookside pub on the 2nd of December was a huge success raising £300. In the spring I will be doing a bag pack with the help of friends and family at Morrisons Kendal.
As a thank you to those who donate you will atomatically be entered into a prize draw which will be running up to the 13th June .George Banks Jewellers of Bowness have kindly donated a voucher worth £100 and Helens Chocolates are offering a Luxury box of chocolates.
With your help we can achieve great heights together.
Lots of love Rebecca
